Born in Abilene, Texas, John Collier has been a professional photographer since 1964. "You could say I've been around the block a few times as a photojournalist", he says. During his years as a photographer for the Detroit Free Press he won many awards. His work covers a wide gamut in the photographic field: magazines, newspapers, film, product packaging, video and montage. Collier's work was published in the last issue of Life, and the first issue of People Magazine.

He recently retired from the newspaper after a long and distinguished career. Now a Farmington, Michigan resident, he looks forward to a period of more personally directed projects in film, video, and of course, photography.
