Reinvention:
Rouge Photographs by Michelle Andonian Continued... Her
years at the Rouge can be described best as a sacred journey through
time, visual space and technology. She was able to engage in the atmosphere
of the automotive industry and become family to its dedicated community
of employees. Her early photos are shot in black and white to express
the historic essence of the plant. As the Rouge transformed, her photographic
technique did as well. Her full-color photos represent the Rouges shift
into the 21st Century. Andonian's
ability to capture the spirit of the automotive plant that launched
the industry reflects her ability to captivate those in her presence.
As she described her experiences in a place were cars were born and
unleashed onto the world, I felt as though I could very well have experienced
those amazing years while sitting on the couch next to her. Its like a little city, she explained. As a photographer you are in and out of so many different lives so quickly, you have to make the most of it. Andonian
had the rare opportunity to bond with many of the diverse and remarkable
people at the plant. I had the freedom to see the Rouge how I
wanted to see it and I always had someone looking out for me,
she says, giving special thanks to the Rouge community, Ford Motor Company
and CCS in her Reinvention postcard package. The Reinvention exhibit was made possible through a grant from the Ford Motor Company Fund, the exhibit runs until October 23, 2004. "Reinvention"
